Role Overview
We are looking for a technical project manager to lead a core team skilled in the delivery of Microsoft based internet, intranet and extranet solutions, and who is as deeply interested in the technology as they are in the art of delivering systems to spec, date, budget and quality criteria.
You will have had recent experience of project managing the software development of web based systems. You will have excellent communication and customer facing skills and have extensive experience of business and requirements analysis. You will have worked in a commercial environment, managing the relationship with both customer and third party suppliers. You will have experience of working with and directly managing teams of highly skilled technical development staff. You must have a solid technical background, having worked across the entire project lifecycle and actively used or applied structured software design and development methods such as OO and RUP. You must be aware of software engineering processes such as configuration and release management.
Experience of managing web-based data/content/document oriented projects is necessary. Experience of delivering projects centred around Microsoft Office SharePoint is a must.
Experience of formal estimating approaches would be ideal. Experience of planning, tracking and controlling project costs, schedule and quality for enterprise projects is necessary. You will have had experience of managing client relationships and demonstrate an understanding of the commercial considerations that need to be taken into account in planning and delivering complex customer solutions. You will be hands-on and 'can do' in your attitude and be genuinely concerned with customer care and satisfaction. You will probably be from a professional services/consultancy background. Professional project management qualifications (e.g. ISEB, APM, PRINCE 2) are a bonus.
You need to be a graduate with a good degree in a science, maths or engineering discipline, have 7 years of software development experience, including at least 3 years project management experience. This role is likely to require frequent travel between York and London.
